Quilled Sentiments

       Classes

We are showing a few of our class projects recently designed for our students for your review. While appearing perhaps complex for the new Quiller they have been designed so that with attending a few classes even a novice can achieve beautiful results in card  making for family and friends. We start our beginner classes with some of the basic quilling techniques used for more simplistic designs. Within a fairly quick time frame we move to more complex images to enhance the experience. We always include detailed instruction in printed format so that our students can work from home practicing their new skills. Please view our Gallery showing a number of quilled creations from 3D stand alone designs, quilled wall art to quilled cards.

Elizabeth Browning - How Do I Love Thee

This was an interesting class presented this Winter. Well in advance for Valentines Day. The design fused quilled pieces of hand-made roses and poppies together with an array of die cut pieces highlighting the design in sepia-like colours. Although an old world feeling to this particular version we also prepared the card using pastels for a more light hearted display.

Two cards were included in this project. One as a 'book' card with Elizabeth on the front adorned with lace and flora. The interior 'book format' illustrated her world famous poem (top photo) How Do I Love Thee. We also included a card-like booklet of her life (left bottom) with the same design on the front cover (lower right).  A very beautiful mantel display.

Owl In The Spotlight

A whimsical card that caught the eye of our quillers. The fully quilled fella was layered giving him more depth. His wings were prepared using a graduated brown quilling paper. Really a nice touch. He also came with a stand that our quillers learned to make with one 8 x 11 inch sheet of cardstock.

Our Owl was further adorned with a die cut lacy background along with a number of 'sentiments' to insert into the Owl's stand. Each student decided which sentiment was best suited for their personal card giving.

If Music Be The  Food Of Love - Play On

Our Baby Grand & Piano Key Card

This duo is truly different and will have music lovers wanting to try their hand at crafting this beautiful baby grand and cover card. The inspiration came from the internet where I viewed a number of baby grands that were presented by various paper artists. Perhaps there was a design that could be easier to craft for students and the experienced quiller.

So here it is adorned with a lovely quilled floral corsage with a spray of pearls on top of the baby grand. The florals are not just a lovely design for our baby grand but can be transferred to other card making projects. Our grand is free standing with legs approximately 2 1/2 inches high. We included a separate card (top left) with a quilled poppy design on the front cover to enhance the presentation. The inside of the card is displayed in our poster.

Lucy Maud Montgomery - Author of Anne of Green Gables

"Well after all, it gave me pleasure in the making and so what matters if the result was not worth while? I had the joy of the working and that was the essence of heaven."

John Ruskin

"A spider may perhaps be rationally proud of his own cobweb, even though all the fields in the morning are covered with the like, for he made it himself."
